| 2010/03/18 REVIGRES LIGHT: IDEAL SOLUTION FOR RENOVATION
Urban renewal is an area of construction with high potential in Portugal. To address the demand for materials with the most suitable characteristics for this segment, Revigrés recently unveiled an innovative, high-potential ceramic wall/floor tile product called Revigrés Light.
Less construction and more renovation have become priorities for the future in economic, social and environmental terms. In fact, specialists believe that revitalising urban centres – capitalising on the existing architectural heritage – results in lower construction costs, greater social cohesion and a reduced environmental impact. In view of these advantages, the Portuguese government will be investing around 700 million euros in this area by 2011.
The potential for urban renewal – which according to the Portuguese Association of Construction and Public Works Industries (AICCOPN) currently accounts for only 7.4% of the entire Portuguese construction sector – can be seen by this market’s relative weight in Europe, where it accounts for 36% (data from 2008), and in Spain, where it accounts for 24%, although new housing builds in this country have been higher than Portugal in recent decades.
Light is an innovative product due to its features: with nearly half the normal thickness (approximately 6 mm) and weight, together with an appealing design, it is also more ecological and practical, making it perfect for refurbishing spaces. Available in 45x90 cm, 60x60 cm and 60x120 cm formats, along with 45x45 cm, 30x30 cm and 30x60 cm submultiple formats, it is especially suited to ventilated façades, space refurbishment and application on light-structure walls such as plasterboard.
Its characteristics offer a variety of advantages: it is more convenient to transport, and guarantees greater safety and ease in the laying process (which may be done using adhesives, eliminating waste and making the process cleaner and more practical) at a lower cost.
